Another source of domestic certified veneer
is the Menominee 
Tribal Enterprises which has issued a Declaration of Self Certification.
Menominee culture and tradition teach "to never take more
resources than are produced within natural cycles so that all
life can be sustained." They have been managing their reservation
land and forests for nearly 150 years, recognizing "...the
need for balance between the environment, community and economy,
both in the short term and for future generations." Their
vision is to "maximize the quantity and quality of sawtimber
under sustained yield management principles, while maintaining
the diversity of native species". Each Forest Management
Plan looks 150 years into the future and is reviewed every 10
years.
Along with purchasing domestic veneers which meet
the above standards, Exotic Hardwoods & Veneers is also importing
veneers which comply with the Australian Forestry Standard (AFS), the
Tasmanian
Forest Practices Code, and the International Environmental
Standard ISO 14001.
